Meta has now informed developers that support for Like buttons and comments on third-party sites outside of the Facebook platform will be terminated effective February 10, 2026. This move is in line with changes in usage patterns, in addition to the transition to a more modern platform.
Facebook Like and Share buttons for websites
Previously, Facebook offered Like buttons and comment box support to web developers, allowing them to be integrated into web development. This move also allows users to press the “Like” button on any article they are reading outside of Facebook, in addition to also using their Facebook identity to leave comments.
After February 10, 2026, Like and comment buttons will no longer be displayed on websites outside of Facebook, and will be closed. For web developers, you can remove the integration by that date.
