Laptop Manufacturers Say Next Year's Laptops May Come With Less Memory

As we all know, the price of memory and storage components is currently seen increasing as they are needed to power data centers that are seen to be developing rapidly due to the purpose of advancing artificial intelligence technology.

We previously reported that Lenovo has started purchasing memory components to ensure that the supply of these components is sufficient for their upcoming laptops.

In addition, HP, another computer hardware manufacturer has also said that there is a high probability that next year the memory configurations on laptops released will be more limited due to the shortage of this memory supply.

If you are used to seeing laptops this year come with memory options of up to 32GB and 64GB, perhaps the memory supply will drop to only 16GB and 32GB when next year's laptop models are introduced.

Enrique Lores, CEO of HP said that the company has sufficient memory supply for laptops that will be sold in the first half of next year. However, this will change in the second half as HP is expected to have to buy new memory chips at much higher prices.

This is expected to cause one of two things, either the price of the laptops offered will be more expensive, or the laptops sold will have to come with less memory than before.

He also said that usually with issues like this, the affordable class of computer models will be the ones that will be worst affected by this issue. The plan for HP when they have to make a decision later is to possibly introduce price increases based on the needs depending on the country and the models offered.

In fact, the CEO of Phison said that this is what computer and laptop manufacturers will do next year. If you really need a new desktop or laptop, now is the time to buy it before the price increases of memory and storage components increase even more.
