OpenSignal, a company that is often seen assessing the quality of telecommunications services offered by companies around the world, has recently released its Mobile Network Experience Report for data collected during the months of August 2025 to October 2025.
For mobile internet services in Malaysia, the report reveals some interesting details, as it is not just one telco that is seen offering good service.
CelcomDigi is seen as the company with the most consistent service quality with a score of 71.7 percent, beating out its second-place challenger, Maxis. This metric measures whether the network can consistently support common mobile applications at a level ‘good enough’ for users to perform common demanding tasks on their devices.
Unifi network users are seen enjoying the fastest overall download speeds in Malaysia, 13 percent faster than those on the second-place U Mobile network. Unifi is also now the winner of the Voice App Experience award with a score of 80 points on a 100-point scale. It is currently the only telco in Malaysia to be in the Good (80-87) category.
Maxis retained the Reliability Experience award with a score of 874 points on a 100-1000 point scale, around six points ahead of CelcomDigi and Unifi, who tied for second place. The award measures our users’ ability to connect and successfully complete basic tasks on the operator’s network.
Yes 5G was the sole winner of Time on Network, with a score of 99 per cent. This figure represents the proportion of time Opensignal users spent connected to a 5G, 4G or 3G mobile signal.
U Mobile won the overall 5G Availability award with a score of 57.8 per cent, beating Maxis in second place. This score reflects the proportion of time Opensignal users with a 5G device and 5G subscription had a 5G connection, whether it was actively used or not.
Interestingly, Unifi Mobile was seen winning several other awards as well such as Video Experience, 5G Video Experience, Games Experience and Download Speed Experience making it the only telecommunications company to win five awards this time.
