The collaboration between Samsung and Perplexity has been announced before, but today, the extent of this collaboration has been revealed by Perplexity. Perplexity’s artificial intelligence (AI) is integrated at the system level and can be invoked using the phrase “Hey Plex” or pressing the side button.
Perplexity can read and write directly to Samsung’s core apps such as Notes, Calendar, Gallery, Clock, and Reminders. This makes Perplexity the first non-Google company to receive operating system-level access on a Samsung device.
Bixby also now uses the Perplexity API for real-time search. Through the combination of real-time web search and LLM, Bixby can provide more up-to-date answers from the right sources. Samsung Browser will also integrate the Perplexity API with browser agent capabilities. perplexity.ai.
Samsung Galaxy S26 buyers do not need to download Perplexity as it is already built in. The three AIs built into the device, namely Galaxy AI, Gemini, and now Perplexity, are an industry first. Samsung data shows 8 out of 10 users use more than two AI agents daily.
