A popular conspiracy theory on social media is that short videos like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Vine and Instagram Reels were created by the Illuminati cabal to distract from the tyranny of the world they started. They are fine needles that stick empty entertainment into the brain to lower the average global IQ. There is no evidence to support this theory, but a recent study conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) found that short videos are proven to have an impact on the individual’s brain.
The APA conducted the study by taking data from 71 previous studies involving 98,299 participants who watched short video content through various platforms. Watching a high amount of short videos directly caused cognitive function to decline, especially in individuals regardless of age.
They became increasingly less sensitive to slower content and cognitive tasks that require effort such as reading, problem solving and deep learning. Excessive viewing of short videos can also cause poor sleep, increased anxiety and loneliness.
If you show these symptoms and watch a lot of short videos, the solution to this problem is to put down your phone. Then read a lot of books and watch long videos without being distracted by the phone in your hand.
