Telegram founder Pavel Durov is no longer under a travel ban by French authorities. Durov, who holds dual French and Russian citizenship, was arrested in Paris last year and was not allowed to leave France to assist in an investigation into Telegram.
He was held for four days by authorities before being released on €5 million (~RM 24 million) bail on charges of aiding and abetting various crimes such as online fraud and the dissemination of paedophile pornography on his platform.
In July, he was granted a waiver to fly to the UAE for just two weeks a year to manage Telegram based in the country after leaving Russia. He will also have to report to the nearest police station every two weeks, like SOSMA offenders in Malaysia.
