TSMC Sues Former Vice President Who Moved to Intel

TSMC has filed a lawsuit against former Senior Vice President Wei-Jen Lo, who recently moved to Intel. The lawsuit was filed through the Taiwan Intellectual Property and Commercial Court because TSMC said it was based on the terms of an employment contract between TSMC and Lo, a non-compete agreement signed by Lo and in accordance with the Trade Secrets Act.

TSMC added that there is a high probability that Lo used, leaked and disclosed various company industry secrets to Intel. While at TSMC, Lo was involved in the development of 5nm, 3nm and damn 2nm technologies. He moved to Intel in October after 21 years at TSMC but before that he worked at Intel for 18 years.

After the lawsuit was filed, Intel and Lo have yet to issue any official statements. Because of TSMC's status as the world's number one fabrication company, various efforts have been made by competitors to recruit their employees.

We previously reported that TSMC employees were offered three times higher salaries to move to Huawei in an effort to bridge the technology gap after the Chinese giant was sanctioned by the United States.
