Micron announced that it will discontinue its Crucial consumer memory and storage brand to focus on the business memory market, especially for data center and artificial intelligence (AI) needs.
Crucial products will officially be discontinued starting February 2026, with Micron still continuing warranty support to customers after that date. It is one of the leading memory brands since it first entered the market 29 years ago. Micron's withdrawal from the consumer memory market was done due to the extremely high demand for DRAM and NAND memory required by data centers and AI.
A few weeks ago, Lenovo confirmed that they had started accumulating memory stocks to meet product needs throughout 2026, thus avoiding price shocks for customers. Samsung and Xiaomi also confirmed that the prices of their devices would increase due to high demand for memory.
