Late last year, Amazon Leo was launched to compete with Starlink. This LEO satellite internet service offers download speeds of up to 1Gbps. Today, Blue Origin is launching TeraWave, which is capable of offering satellite internet connections with download and upload speeds of up to 6 Tbps.
These high speeds are offered because TeraWave targets business, data center, and government customers. A total of 5,408 satellites are used by TeraWave in their network with 5,280 low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and 128 medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites. Fast internet is only offered when connected to MEO satellites with LEO satellites only offering download and upload speeds of up to 144 Gbps.
TeraWave is offered to customers around the world who need ultra-fast internet connections even when they are in remote or rural locations. The TeraWave satellite network will launch in Q4 2027.
