Social media has been flooded with stories of EV buyers in Malaysia who had to sell their vehicles less than a year after purchasing them. The reason given was that they were surprised by the shorter range than expected and were unwilling to wait long to charge the battery. In China, this issue has been resolved with EVs equipped with high-capacity batteries such as the BYD Yangwang U7.
This sedan EV has been updated with a new model equipped with a 150-kWh battery pack that can offer a range of up to 1,006 km CLTC. This is better than the previous model which was equipped with a 135.5 kWh battery with a range of 720 km CLTC. In addition, BYD also offers a PHEV version with a 52.4-kWh battery with a range of only 200 km.
With the launch of the latest U7 model, it makes it the BEV with the longest range offered by Yangwang since the sub-brand was launched in November 2023.
