Ubisoft Restructures – Six Games Including PoP The Sands of Time Remake Cancelled

Ubisoft is currently undergoing a restructuring process that has seen two studios closed, games divided into specific groups, seven games postponed and six games in development canceled outright. This restructuring was announced during the company's financial report earlier this morning.

First of all, Ubisoft Stockholm, which was involved in the development of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, was closed along with Ubisoft Halifax, which was involved in the development of the game. Workforce reductions were also carried out at Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, Ubisoft RedLynx and Massive, which developed the game series The Division.

Six games have been canceled with only Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake confirmed so far. The other five games consist of new IPs and one game. The cancellations were made after all projects were reviewed late last year. Ubisoft's focus after this is on developing open world games like Assassin's Creed and live service games like The Division.

Seven games have been delayed in their launch to ensure they meet quality standards and maximize the company's long-term revenue. Although the name of the game has not been announced, one of them could be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resync whose existence has been leaked since last year.

Finally, the studios under Ubisoft are divided into five new Creative House (CH) groups, each of which will release games in a specific genre only. The new Creative Houses are as follows.

CH1 (Vantage Studios) – Holds Ubisoft’s largest and most profitable IPs such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six.

CH2 – Competitive shooters The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell

CH3 – Live-action games such as For Honor, The Crew, Riders Republic, Brawlhalla and Skull & Bones

CH4 – Fantasy and narrative world games such as Anno, Might & Magic, Rayman, Prince of Persia and Beyond Good & Evil.

CH5 – Family-focused casual games such as Just Dance, Idle Miner Tycoon, Ketchapp, Hungry Shark, Invincible: Guarding the Globe, Uno and Hasbro
