The era of film and TV series production using artificial intelligence (AI) began last year. Netflix used it for special effects, Prime Video used it to automatically translate languages, while in Malaysia, fully AI-generated films have entered cinemas. Now Amazon MGM Studio plans to use AI to speed up the production process of films and TV series.
Under the leadership of Albert Cheng, several AI software is being developed by a team called AI Studio. In addition to speeding up production, it will also reduce costs and streamline the process of producing creative content. Amazon is believed to start an AI testing program with industry partners as early as next month.
Amazon emphasizes that writers, directors, actors and character designers will be involved at every stage of production and AI will not replace all of their tasks. In the initial stages, AI Studio will collaborate with production companies Secret City, Good Karma Productions and Colin Brady, who previously worked as an animator at ILM and Pixar, to test AI tools to see how they can be used.
