Google and Sea Ltd have announced a collaboration involving artificial intelligence, covering several products under Sea Ltd. For your information, Sea Ltd is the parent company behind Shopee and Garena.
Under this collaboration, Google and Shopee will develop AI agents for shopping purposes. For your information, today we are ready to use artificial intelligence services such as ChatGPT and Gemini for question and answer purposes. Moving forward, Google has begun integrating direct purchasing support through Gemini, and with the collaboration with Shopee, it will make it easier to expand this in the region.
As many of you know, Shopee is one of the big names in e-commerce in the Southeast Asian region, including Malaysia. If all goes well, we may see users being able to ask Gemini about something, request product or service recommendations, and then make purchases directly on Gemini. Google earlier this year announced a solution and integration for it under what they call UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol).
Previously, Google through YouTube has collaborated with Shopee to integrate support for affiliate features, making it easier for YouTube content publishers to generate additional revenue by listing Shopee products on their videos.
In addition to the e-commerce collaboration, Google will also offer a number of artificial intelligence solutions to help Garena develop video games.
