Google Pixel 11 Will Have Face ID-Like Features Through Project Toscana

Apple replaced Touch ID with Face ID that scans the face in 3D starting with the iPhone X in 2017. Until now, only a few Android devices such as Honor and Huawei provide the same feature. Android Authority reports that the Google Pixel 11 will finally have comparable features under the name Project Toscana.

The uniqueness of Project Toscana is that it only requires a single selfie camera on the front unlike Face ID which takes up a large space on the iPhone's forehead. In tests that have been conducted, Project Toscana works as fast as Face ID and can be used in both dark and bright situations. In addition to the Pixel, Project Toscana will also be used on Chromebooks.

It is still unknown how Project Toscana works with only one camera and whether the infrared emitter is hidden under the screen. There are rumors that the iPhone in conjunction with its 20th anniversary will also have a similar feature.
