Samsung Not Sure It Will Launch New Edge Or Trifold Models But S Pen Will Be Updated

Last year, it was reported that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge was canceled at the last minute due to unsatisfactory sales of the S25 Edge. In a Bloomberg report today, Samsung’s COO of Mobile Experience Won-Joon Choi admitted that the company has no commitment to launch not only a new Edge model but also the Galaxy Z Trifold.

Instead, the focus will be on developing a wider Z Fold. This confirms the rumors of a wider Z Fold that were heard before. Based on leaked information, this wider Z Fold will be more like a tablet screen ratio when opened. This is also rumored to be the design that Apple will use for its future foldable iPhone.

For S Pen fans, the good news is that Samsung does not seem to be ready to say goodbye to the Galaxy Note era stylus. Choi said that an updated S Pen is being developed. Among the issues that currently exist is the S Pen being affected when placed near strong magnets. This is the reason why the Galaxy S26 series does not support the faster MagSafe charging system and connects to devices much better.

Finally, Choi also revealed that the Privacy Display technology was originally intended to be introduced on the Galaxy S25 but was not completed at the last minute. Development of the Privacy Display began around 3-4 years ago and it was only supported on the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year. Samsung has plans to provide the same technology on foldable screens and non-flagship devices in the future.
