Are you an artificial intelligence (AI) hater? If so, you now have three more reasons to hate it because Valve has confirmed that the announcement of the release date and price of the Steam Machine, Steam Controller, and Steam Frame has been delayed due to component shortages. Specifically, the lack of RAM and memory modules caused production to experience issues, especially in controlling prices.
When all three products were announced in November last year, many hoped that the sales price would be comparable to a console with Valve providing subsidies to make it more affordable. Valve later said that the sales price would be comparable to PCs. With PC component prices now soaring by up to 40%, Valve has yet to announce the sales price of the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. However, Valve is still committed to selling them in H1 2026.
This is a global issue that has forced Micron to discontinue the Crucial brand, ASUS will not offer new smartphones this year, and has caused the launch of the PS5 and new Xbox to be postponed until a time when component prices are no longer stifling Epstein.
