The calculator function has now been transferred to devices such as computers and smart devices. Unless you work or are studying in an industry that requires it for quick calculations, these electronic devices are generally very rarely used widely these days.
However, if you are an electronics collector with a thick wallet, you may be interested in purchasing a Casio S100X Urushi Edition calculator that comes with a frame made of aluminum.
Through a collaboration with Yamakyu Japanware, the frame goes through a process of painting “tamenuri” lacquer by hand, and it is said that the process of assembling a calculator takes a month to ensure that each painted frame is free from any defects.
This calculator is also only built at Casio’s Yamagata factory, and only 650 units of this calculator were produced, and is only sold through the Casio Japan website for $630 (~RM2500).
