Early last year, the Commission developed and began testing the MCMC Nexus app, which is an application to test mobile internet and WiFi networks locally, to ensure that the data transmission and reception speeds of Malaysian networks meet the Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS) standards set by the Ministry of Communications Malaysia.
Today, the app was officially launched by the Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching and can be used with Android, iOS and HarmonyOS smart devices by the public. Apart from testing the download and upload speeds of mobile and WiFi networks, this app can also test the quality of popular streaming and social media applications such as YouTube, Netflix, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and others.
Another function shown is Route Survey which allows users to use this app to test the network speed on the roads and highways you are traveling. All network data collected will be sent to MCMC, and if the network speed is lower than the set MSQoS standard (10Mbps), MCMC will be notified, and a report will also be forwarded to the network provider for further action.
