Blue Origin's New Glenn Rocket Lands Again, But Cargo Fails to Orbit

The Blue Origin New Glenn rocket successfully landed after launch like the SpaceX Falcon rocket. It was the first time New Glenn successfully landed all of them since its first launch in January last year. With New Glenn, Blue Origin won the contract to launch satellites, crew and cargo like SpaceX, further strengthening the competition between Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

Although New Glenn successfully landed vertically on a platform on the surface of the sea, the BlueBird 7 satellite cargo launched for AST SpaceMobile failed to reach its intended orbit. AST confirmed that the second stage rocket did not put the satellite into orbit and therefore it will be deorbited in the near future.

New Glenn stands the same length as the SLS rocket (98 meters) that launched the Artemis II mission around the moon earlier this month. It is the rocket that Blue Origin will use to launch the Blue Moon lunar lander that will be selected for the Artemis IV mission later.

SpaceX's Spaceship delays led NASA to choose Blue Origin as a backup system to ensure Artemis IV could be launched by 2028 as planned, as it had already experienced several delays.
