Meta is expanding its collaboration with Broadcom to develop several new generations of its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) artificial intelligence (AI) chips. The collaboration focuses on chip design, packaging, and AI networking to support Meta’s growing computing needs.
MTIA is an AI accelerator dedicated to large-scale inference, classification, and recommendation systems tasks. Meta plans four new generations of MTIAs over the next two years, including support for generative AI tasks.
The agreement also includes a commitment of over 1GW of computing power in the first phase before a multi-gigawatt rollout in the future. The long-term goal is to build the computing foundation for “personal superintelligence” for billions of users.
