Three weeks ago we reported that Mark Zuckerberg was developing an AI agent to help him with his job as CEO at Meta. With this “CEO agent,” Zuckerberg hopes he can do his job more efficiently and help him get information faster, without having to go through multiple layers of management.
This morning the Financial Times reported that this CEO agent will also have a photo-realistic avatar of Mark Zuckerberg so that it can interact with Meta employees like the real Zuckerberg. The realistic avatar has been shown by Meta since 2022 through Meta Codec Avatars 2.0 technology and was developed for users of the metamesta Horizon Worlds to interact with each other.
It has also been trained using Zuckerberg’s speaking style, tone of voice, and strategic vision. Zuckerberg himself provided input during the training and testing sessions of this AI agent. The project aims to create closer relationships between employees and Meta’s top management even though the interactions take place through digital avatars. In addition, other projects are being developed to help Zuckerberg personally.
Meta previously offered AI virtual assistants with celebrity faces such as MrBeast, Snoop Dogg, Israel Adesanya, Paris Hilton and Kendall Jenner in 2023. The feature was later discontinued in 2024 after only being available to users in the United States. The technology of realistic avatars as a substitute for oneself is not new to Meta, but is currently used exclusively by Zuckerberg internally.
