Microsoft Tests Ability to Pause Windows 11 Updates for 35 Days

Recently, Microsoft's Windows 11 operating system has shown many issues related to updates that caused a number of parts of the operating system to not work properly, and the incident aboard the Artemis II where Outlook software did not work on two computers seems to have forced Microsoft to look at how they can improve their update process.

Microsoft has announced that they are introducing the ability to pause Windows 11 updates for 35 days without asking again for users who have signed up for the Windows Insider program.

More interestingly, Microsoft also said that this update pause can be extended indefinitely, and only needs to be done every 35 days when they ask users to download new updates again.

Microsoft will also update the Shut Down and Sleep functions to make it easier for users to shut down their computers without having to wait for new updates to download and install. This allows users to install these updates at a more leisurely time.

Windows 11 is also expected to feature more parallel updates. Previously, any new updates would be introduced separately every week, and this sometimes forced users to restart their computers at inconvenient times.

With this update, Microsoft seems to want to reduce the need to restart computers to only once a month, and hopefully help users so that their productivity needs do not have to follow the computer update schedule.

This announcement was made shortly after Microsoft also announced that users can skip the first update when activating their Windows computers.

At this time, it is not known when this new update will be introduced to users more widely.
