Apple to Use Only iPhone 17 Pro for Live MLS Soccer Broadcast

Apple TV will broadcast a Major League Soccer (MLS) game on May 24 that was recorded entirely on iPhone 17 Pro. This will be the first professional sporting event to be broadcast with 100 percent iPhone footage. The match pits LA Galaxy soccer team against Houston Dynamo FC in Carson, California.

A total of 15 iPhone 17 Pros will be used to capture the entire coverage including warm-ups, player introductions, goal angles, and stadium atmosphere, with cameras positioned throughout the stadium to provide new perspectives and professional broadcast-quality video.

Apple previously tested the use of iPhones in live broadcasts in September 2025 for Friday Night Baseball, which was recognized so much that the iPhone was inducted into the permanent collection of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. After a positive response, Apple is expanding iPhone use of MLS and MLB broadcasts throughout 2026.

The broadcasts will be available on Apple TV at 7:30 p.m. PT (10:30 a.m. PT) on May 24. Apple TV subscribers in more than 100 countries can watch all MLS games without broadcast restrictions, and new users get a free week-long trial
