Intel Begins Development of 10A and 7A Semiconductor Chip Production Technology

Intel's 5N4Y plan has already begun to bear fruit, where the company has now returned to producing its own processing chips using the 18A semiconductor production process, with the 14A process also set to begin operations around the end of 2028.

Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO, has confirmed that work has begun on developing two new process technologies, namely Intel 10A and Intel which are expected to only operate for at least the next 10 years as a step to prepare for future needs.

This announcement is made to give customers certainty that the development of semiconductor chip production process technology will not stop when the 14A process begins operations. With the confirmation that the 10A and 7A processes are being developed, this gives some confidence that Intel's services in the future can be utilized to produce new semiconductor chips not only for its own components, but also for their customers.

Meanwhile, Lip-Bu Tan also confirmed that PDK (Process Design Kit) 0.9 for the 14A process will be shown in October this year which will allow Intel customers to “test” Intel’s production process, and decide whether the resulting production rate is suitable for customers’ needs.

He also said that there are several companies interested in using the process, but has not yet revealed who they are. He said that when they are ready to make the announcement, Intel will come forward to help provide more details about it.
