The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) is implementing digital transformation through the MyeHALAL 2.0 system with the aim of speeding up, strengthening transparency, and making the halal certification process more industry-friendly. The implementation of this system is expected to be carried out in the next few months. This report is quoted from Malay Mail.
This system will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology and MyHALALINGREDIENTS, a database developed by JAKIM to store and organize information related to ingredients used in products, whether halal or not for certification review purposes. With this database, each application can be automatically reviewed based on existing information, thus making the entire process more systematic, transparent and efficient.
In addition, JAKIM has also introduced a ‘Whitelist’ initiative for companies with a strong compliance record, thus enabling halal certification approval to be completed within a week. This step reaffirms JAKIM’s commitment to increasing efficiency and supporting the growth of the halal industry in Malaysia. The idea is clear, which is to eliminate the complexity of the halal certification process, thereby increasing efficiency and benefiting the industry and consumers.
