The WiFi 8 wireless internet connection standard was ratified in July last year, and a few months later, TP-Link conducted standard testing to confirm its effectiveness as an upgrade from the WiFi 7 network.
Now, TP-Link has confirmed that its first WiFi 8 router, called the TP-Link Archer 8, will be launched in October this year, the TP-Link Deco 8 WiFi 8 mesh router will arrive in early 2027, while the TP-Link Roam 8 mobile router will be introduced in the second quarter of 2027.
Along with the announcement are some leaked images to give a glimpse of what the upcoming Archer 8 router will look like. In terms of performance, the WiFi 8 router appears to offer similar speeds to WiFi 8, but the main difference can be seen in the number of devices that can take advantage of the faster network speeds.
For TP-Link, this hopefully means that users will experience latency issues that are common when using mesh routers which typically require data to be transferred from one router to another, causing this latency issue.
TP-Link is now apparently preparing to seek approval to sell these products in a number of countries, including the United States, where they hold a monopoly on the sale of consumer router products in that country.
