The government has previously offered rebates several times to encourage the public to switch to energy efficient electrical appliances. The program is now being continued, and for 2026, it will begin on 1 July 2026.
Under this program, through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia), the Nikmat Untuk Rakyat (NUR) program will be implemented, providing a rebate of RM200 in the purchase of energy efficient air conditioners or refrigerators.
The government has allocated a rebate for 160,000 units, bringing the total allocation for this program to RM32 million. Consumers who want to get this rebate need to ensure that the air conditioner or energy efficient refrigerator they purchase has a 4 or 5 star energy efficiency label from the Energy Commission.
For interested consumers, applications for this rebate will be open starting 1 July 2026, via the NUR@PETRA 2026 website.
