The candybar-type phone in your hand usually has a screen ratio of 19.6:9. It is an evolution from the 1:1 on the Nokia 3210, 4:3 on the iPhone 3GS and later 18.5:9 on the Galaxy Note8. Huawei has launched the Pura X flip phone with a wide outer screen. Now, a report from Digital Chat Station claims that Huawei will also launch a candybar phone with a 16:10 widescreen.
In addition to the wide screen, it is also rumored to come with a large 50MP 1/1.3-inch main camera, a small 50MP periscope sensor (3x zoom) and a light sensor. This is then paired with a 7000 mAh battery.
The 16:10 ratio is usually used in laptops and tablets. But perhaps after launching the Pura X, Huawei realized that there was a market demand for a widescreen candybar phone. It's more reasonable than the 1:1 screen on the Blackberry Passport that was launched in 2014.
The idea of this wide screen may sound strange but there was a time when large screen phones and all-screen phones like today were considered absurd. Huawei previously started the trend of tri-cameras and the use of Leica lenses on smartphones. Who knows, maybe after this, the trend of 16:10 screen phones will follow suit.
