M. Nasir is a familiar name to fans of the Malaysian music industry, where he is a legend in Malaysia. His popularity is seen to be very large, where he has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the Wonda drink.
The advertisement can be seen displayed everywhere, whether online or on billboards on the roads.
Companies like Zus and Grab also seem to have been parodied, but recently, MyTeksi Sdn Bhd or known as Grab Malaysia has been sued by M. Nasir for using the name to promote the company's services without his permission.
Datuk Mohd Nasir Mohamed known as M. Nasir and his company, Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd filed the suit at the Shah Alam High Court today.
The plaintiff has asked MyTeksi Sdn Bhd to remove promotional materials using the name M. Nasir, the company disclosed the profit statement generated from the use of the phrase “M. Nasir’s Favorite” as part of the beverage sales promotion offered by the platform within the past seven days.
Apart from the claim for damages that will be assessed by the court based on the financial statements that MyTeksi Sdn Bhd needs to show, M. Nasir and Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd have also asked for RM3 million in exemplary damages and RM2 million in aggravated damages.
