The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is studying the introduction of digital sick leave certificates or e-MC. This step was taken to curb the increasing misuse and forgery of sick leave certificates, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad on Saturday.
Cases involving the sale of MCs and stolen MC documents are on the rise, making the introduction of e-MCs a necessity. Dr. Dzulkefly added that MOH believes there is an MC fraud syndicate that has been active since 2016. This syndicate is forging the names of registered private clinics, while the names and professional registration numbers of doctors have been stolen and misused.
