Official – Shah Alam Line LRT 3 Service to Start Operations on June 29

Transport Minister Anthony Loke today confirmed that the Shah Alam Line LRT 3 Service, or its official name, will start operations on June 29. According to Loke, the line will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the LRT3 main depot on June 28. The start date of the LRT 3 service has been delayed several times due to technical issues. Previously, it was supposed to start operations on December 31, 20265.

The Shah Alam LRT is the fourth rail transit service in the Klang Valley and is operated by Rapid KL. The line will have 25 stations, which for the first time are located outside the Kuala Lumpur City limits. It connects Bandar Utama station in Petaling to Johan Setia station in Klang.

The construction of the line cost RM21.93 billion, which is lower than the original estimated cost of RM31.65 billion when approved in 2015. When operational, it will be able to carry up to 39,260 passengers per hour
