Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad and the Malaysian Broadcasting Department (RTM) have announced a new strategic partnership to increase content options for consumers. With this announcement, RTM’s original plan to end its channel offering on Astro starting July 1, which was announced in May, will not be continued.
Through this initiative, Astro customers will continue to have access to TV1, TV2 and TV Okey channels on the Astro, NJOI and Sooka platforms. In fact, more channels will be offered when Berita RTM, Sukan+ and the RTM radio network are made available on the platforms in the near future.
This means that consumers will not only be able to watch national news live but also follow sports coverage and listen to RTM radio directly through their digital platforms.
This move also demonstrates the commitment of both parties to ensure that consumers continue to have access to quality public content. At the same time, this partnership also helps strengthen the local media industry so that it is more stable and sustainable in the long term.
In the same statement, both parties stated that today’s mass media landscape requires a comprehensive and future-oriented approach. RTM and Astro also share the goal of building a media ecosystem that is user-friendly and capable of providing the best value to the people.
