In June last year, the Trump Mobile T1 was announced as a US-made smartphone for true patriots. It was announced after President Trump said he would impose high tariffs on Apple and Samsung if they didn't build phones domestically.
When announced, the T1 looked like an iPhone 16 Pro Max clone because it had a tri-camera system on the back. Then the mock-up image was changed again so that it now looks like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. It took a year for the device to arrive in the hands of buyers with another change of face.
The site iFixit has "dissected" the Trump Mobile T1 and revealed that it is actually a reskinned HTC U24 Pro from 2024. When X-rayed, the components of both devices are the same. Even the motherboard has the same design.
The only difference is that the RAM and storage have changed from SK Hynix in the HTC U24 Pro to Micron modules on the Mobile T1. Meanwhile, the battery is also slightly larger. The body frame is now equipped with a larger camera bump.
Since it's a device from 2024, the processor specifications are also outdated as it's just a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This makes the Mobile T1's selling price of almost $500 completely worthless.
The teardown of this device also confirms that unlike when advertised, the Mobile T1 is not built in the United States. The official Trump Mobile website now says the device is "assembled" in the United States only.
