Pos Malaysia has now announced that they will completely close all branches of their convenience store, Pos Shop, effective July 15, 2026. With this announcement, all Pos Shop convenience stores will cease operations completely, and the Post is seen to continue to focus on their delivery and logistics services.
Pos Shop has previously been operating since April 2023, and around 50 branches have been opened since then. However, the promotion for it is not seen to be very extensive, and is more focused on visitors to the Post office alone. When introducing Pos Shop, Pos Malaysia aimed to enable customer integration across their delivery services along with retail services. Several Pos Shop convenience stores also came with Pos Cafe offerings, making it easier for consumers to get drinks and food.
For now, Pos Malaysia has not stated the reason why Pos Shop is completely closed. It has also not been shared whether retail workers will be affected by the termination of Pos Shop operations, whether it will be completely closed or absorbed into other parts of Pos Malaysia. According to the financial statements for the year ending 2025, Pos Shop generated annual revenue of RM5.3 million for 2025.
