Samsung today announced Samsung Flex Titanium technology developed for foldable screens. It has been confirmed to be the OLED screen panel that will be used in the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 series, which will be launched next week in London.
Flex Titanium uses two layers of platinum to make the screen panel more durable and make the folding effect less noticeable. According to Samsung, the mechanical hardness of the first layer of Flex Titanium titanium film is 20 times higher than that of ordinary polymers. It is only one-third the thickness of a human hair, allowing for thinner devices to be produced.
Beneath this layer is a titanium plate that supports the display module from below. This new structure provides more stable support under the display when unfolded while maintaining the flexibility needed to accommodate repeated folding.
