U Mobile Completes Full Telecommunication Network Migration from DNB Infrastructure

As you may know, telecommunications company U Mobile is the second 5G network operator in Malaysia, having been selected by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and has begun the process of transferring network infrastructure from DNB to their own network called the U Mobile ULTRA5G network.

This network migration has been initiated since July 2025, shortly after the selection to become Malaysia's second 5G network operator, and since they began developing their own high-speed telecommunications network, they have been seen to have successfully expanded their network coverage to 85 percent of populated areas throughout Malaysia so far, showing an increase compared to the 82.9 percent reported a few months ago.

Apart from providing 5G networks in open areas, U Mobile is also now present with the network offering in 190 buildings throughout Malaysia, including locations such as Berjaya Times Square, with the figure also expected to increase to 600 buildings and other indoor infrastructure in the future.

They also announced a syndicated financing of RM4.3 billion from a consortium of local and international financial institutions to support the continued expansion and enhancement of their network, reinforcing their long-term commitment to providing high-quality connectivity across Malaysia.

Wong Heang Tuck, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile, said, “The completion of our transition to the nationwide ULTRA5G network marks a significant milestone for U Mobile. This transition gives us full control over the network and allows us to introduce new innovations at a faster pace. We will also be able to introduce differentiated products and services that meet the ever-changing needs of consumers and businesses no matter where they are.”
