Spotify has introduced a new feature called Notes to make playlists more personal through a combination of notes from editors and personal notes from users. This feature is divided into two main components, Editor Notes and User Notes.
For Editor Notes, Spotify editors will share the reasons for selecting a song, the cultural relevance and the story behind the playlist. In addition, editor profiles have also been introduced to display favorite songs, selected albums and specially curated playlists. For now, the feature is only offered to users aged 16 and above in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be expanded to other markets or vice versa.
Meanwhile, User Notes allows users to add personal notes to songs, podcasts or audiobooks in their playlists. These notes can be used to share experiences, provide suggestions or explain the reason for the song selection and will be displayed to anyone with access to the playlist.
This feature is being rolled out gradually in over 100 global markets on iOS and Android devices. However, a review found that this functionality is not yet available in our application at this time.
