Huawei Plans to Launch Two New AI Chips in 2027 to Compete with NVIDIA

Huawei has announced plans to introduce two AI-focused chips in 2027: the Ascend 960DT in the first quarter and the Ascend 960PR in the third quarter. Concurrently, Huawei aims to optimize its offerings to ensure interoperability and connectivity with other AI chips, thereby creating more advanced computing systems for processing tasks.

This move offers a superior alternative for developers in China who are currently subject to US trade restrictions. NVIDIA’s products currently dominate the global market in terms of both hardware and software.

Beyond hardware development, Huawei is actively cultivating its developer community. The company reports that its AI chip ecosystem currently boasts 5,270 monthly active developers—a figure expected to grow steadily over time.

In China, various companies are expected to shift to Huawei’s solutions for AI model training, inference, and general computing by 2027. This transition not only promises cost reductions but also provides a more robust alternative to other providers.
