Tips to make computers durable and not electronic waste

In connection with the commemoration of Earth Day or Earth Day, various ways can be done to recycle the use of plastic and paper. But just as important is recycling electronic goods such as computers.
It is quite difficult to recycle electronics when compared to paper or plastic. So, there are tips so that computers can last longer so that they do not quickly break down and become electronic garbage.

WRCBTV's Rick Patin, a computer technician in the United States, says that the age of devices, especially computers, averages 6 years. However, most users have suffered premature breakdowns.

And according to him, many of them decided it is better to buy a new one than to do repairs that require a lot of money. This is what contributes to electronic waste. Even a computer if used properly can last a long time.

"They won't last long. There's also the thought that when you buy a cheap machine, you're not going to spend $ 200 to fix it and you're going to throw it away," he said.

Many users complain that computer performance has decreased or slowed down due to malware or viruses. But this can be solved by cleaning the hard drive and registry. He recommends Malware Bytes and CCleaner. Computer performance will return quickly. In addition, you must also update periodically.

"If you're talking about a general PC, this is a Microsoft product, you're going to see a lot of viruses and spyware. Also a lack of updates, Windows updates," he said.

The latter can be fixed by downloading the update manually or setting it to update on a schedule. Resetting or turning off your computer before bed can also clean up updates.

"Reset or restart your computer once a week. That allows all updates to happen. If they're inactive, they can't do it." he has explained

He also recommends that users upgrade their hard drives to solid state or non -rotating SSDs, so they have a longer lifespan than previous drives. And before doing anything, it is mandatory to back up the contents of the hard drive so that valuable memory such as photos and videos are not lost.
