Full speed! South Korea Ready to Hold 6G Commercially in 2028

 

The presence of 5G is still considered as old as corn, but South Korea has used gas and will commercialize its 6G network by 2028.
If it can be achieved, then South Korea will be the first country in the world to bring 6G commercially to its customers.



It looks ambitious, but this Ginseng Country has long planned it, including the necessary budgets. The South Korean government has allocated about 220 billion Won or the equivalent of USD 193.7 million to develop core standards and technologies over five years.



Science and ICT Minister Lim Hye-Sook said that South Korea must be a pioneer, as 6G is predicted to be the foundation for digital innovation.





"Next-generation mobile networks are the foundation of digital innovation, we must play a bold and challenging role together to lead the international market in the 6G era based on our experience and knowledge in the field of networking," Lim Hye-Sook was quoted as saying by RCR Wireless News on Thursday. In conducting Government Research and Development (R&D), industry leaders, and experts are involved. Meanwhile, a country known as Kpop is not running alone, but working with the United States, Finland, and China.



In April, tech giant LG said it had partnered with U.S. -based testing and measurement firm Keysight Technologies and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), with the aim of conducting research on future 6G technologies.



LG revealed that 6G in the future will provide faster data rates, lower latency, and higher reliability than 5G, and could bring the concept of Ambient Internet of Everything (AIoE), which gives users a better connected experience.



In addition, Samsung has previously experimented using the 140 GHz spectrum or also categorized as the Terahertz (THz) frequency spectrum in the 6G expansion.
