Google Founder Hiding in Fiji During Pandemic

Google co-founder Larry Page reportedly spent most of his time during the pandemic hiding in the tropical islands of Fiji. He entered the country through a system that allowed the wealthy to avoid travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report from two eyewitnesses who told Business Insider, the millionaire figure who is known to be quiet and introvert mostly lives on the island of Tavarua, a heart -shaped island located to the west of Fiji's main island.

A source says that Page was seen in the waters around the island in Fiji with his wife, Lucinda Southworth. They do hydrofoiling, a type of surfing sport that uses boards elevated above the water.

Courts are also seen on the smaller island of Namotu. There is speculation among locals that he bought the island or other islands in the archipelago.

Quoted from Fox Business, it's unclear exactly when Page first arrived in Fiji. Sources aware of this say Page arrived in the country around 900,000 people early last summer and has returned at least once since then.

It should be noted, Fiji closed its borders during the outbreak. But through the country’s “Blue Lane” initiative, owners of super planes and private jets can enter with minimal restrictions.

Page, who is the sixth richest person in the world with a net worth of USD 117 billion, entered Fiji through the Blue Lane system. According to one source who interacted with him, Page brought his family and entourage, and spent a long time in the country during the outbreak.

Fijian authorities helped keep Page’s whereabouts on the islands a secret. On June 19, when Fiji was hit by the second wave of COVID-19 cases, Fijian Broadcasting Company News reported that Page donated medical supplies to the country via his private jet.

But a few days later, the publication disappeared. Fijia health authorities asked the news agency to remove the article, arguing that the information could not be published.

Despite his position as one of the richest people in the world and his huge strength against tech giants, Page has always been known for secrecy and has always avoided public attention, especially since he and co -founder Sergey Brin resigned from Google and its parent Alphabet in 2019.

Page and Brin are now on Alphabet’s board of directors. Through special voting shares, the duo can at any time bypass management and determine their wishes on the company.
