A live video feed from the International Space Station (ISS) recently went viral on Reddit. The video shows a group of mysterious lights seen hovering close to the ISS.
The video was posted on r / UFO, one of the largest UFO forums on Reddit. In the video, you can see two very bright clusters of light moving from the left of the screen to the right of the screen.
"Can someone explain what I just saw on the ISS YouTube live feed?" asked Reddit user u/tyrannosnorlax in the forum, as quoted from Futurism, Saturday (17/7/2021).
While it looks like a group of UFOs are ready to attack Earth, it turns out that the accumulation of light is not a space object. The ISS camera takes video pointing to Earth and light is human activity on Earth.
More precisely, a group of light may have come from a group of squid finder boats using super bright lights to attract the attention of their prey, explained Reddit user u / AlphazeroOneTwo in response.
In a blog post uploaded in 2013, NASA explained this fishing boat lighting phenomenon using photos taken by ISS astronauts as an example.
"Fishermen are likely to pull Todarodes pacificus - a species known as the Japanese flying squid - to the surface using bright xenon lights," NASA wrote on its blog.

After finding out for himself, u / tyrannosnorlax also acknowledged the light he saw was most likely from a fishing boat and not a UFO scout.
“While the first website linked in the first update has some examples similar to this, the squid fishing lights are the most plausible explanation, so far,” he said.
Netizens ’obsession with UFOs has recently increased. Especially after several videos recorded by U.S. pilots showing UFO sightings went viral.
The U.S. intelligence agency recently released the results of its investigation into the alleged UFO reconnaissance. In their report, they were unable to explain the origin of the object in sight.
