Seriously, Police Station Electricity Stolen because of Bitcoin Mining

A police station in the Warsaw region, the capital of Poland, is used for electricity for Bitcoin mining. Fortunately, this illegal act is known and the perpetrator has also been successfully arrested.
Mariusz Ciarka as a local police spokesman told TVN24 media that a civil servant was arrested for trying to steal electricity at a police station to mine Bitcoin. Yes, the perpetrators are not police.

“Unfortunately this incident happened at the police headquarters,” he said, but stressed that the perpetrators were only trying to steal electricity, not important police data.

“The device he was using was not connected to any database and this case was only related to electrical theft,” he added.

Ciarka added that criminal acts can be found quickly. Relevant sources say that there is a second perpetrator who will be fired and his role will also be investigated further.

Cryptocurrency mining processes like Bitcoin generally require large amounts of electricity and computers with high specifications. There are usually a number of Bitcoin machines that work together to perform complex calculations to be mined.

Some miners are willing to do various ways to get Bitcoin, given its high price. Not long ago, the Malaysian government raided cryptocurrency mining like Bitcoin in Sarawak also due to electricity theft. The evidence was then destroyed by being struck with a stoom -type heavy vehicle.

A total of 1,069 crypto mining tools such as Bitcoin and Ethereum were destroyed. The PC machine was seized in six raids conducted between February and April in 2021.

The miner was found guilty of illegally stealing electricity from power company Sarawak Energy Berhad. Bitcoin mining operators are accused of stealing electricity worth around USD 2 million.
