New York Floods Terrible Sightings from Space

Flash floods hit New York, United States. The current condition of the affected area can be seen from space.

As a result of the flash floods caused by Hurricane Ida, it is currently reported that 41 people have been killed. The New Jersey area was reportedly the worst hit by the natural disaster.

The satellite operated by Maxar Technologies, as reported by Space, Sunday (05/09/2021), has captured a horrific visual of the New York flood situation.

Based on the results of the GeoEye-1 satellite, roads and rail transportation access are submerged in dark brown water. Buildings, both housing and surrounding stadiums, also appeared to be submerged.

Maxar Technologies said the impact of Hurricane Ida not only inundated New Jersey, but also New Brunswick, Somerville, South Bound Brook, and others.

It is known that Hurricane Ida brought along winds of 150 mph and caused the devastation it encountered. Initially, it was a category 1 hurricane but quickly developed into a category 4 hurricane as it moved over the Gulf of Mexico.

As reported by AFP news agency, record rainfall, which triggered an unprecedented flash flood emergency warning for New York City, has turned streets into rivers and shut down subway services as the floodwaters flowed from platforms to rails.

Hundreds of flights were canceled at LaGuardia and JFK airports, as well as in Newark, where video showed terminals submerged in rainwater.

Floods closed major roads across New Jersey and New York including Manhattan, The Bronx and Queens, submerging cars and forcing firefighters to rescue hundreds of people.
