Apple supplier Foxconn has reportedly closed its India factory located in Chennai, South India. This closure was carried out after an incident of food poisoning in hundreds of employees.
A protest was also carried out, it was known that there were 150 employees who had food poisoning, but now they have received incentive treatment at the hospital. According to a report from Reuters, this news came from three government sources familiar with the matter.
Dozens of people are reported to have blocked a major highway as a result of the incident. However, the police have now released him after being detained, as reported by us from Gizmochina, Friday (12/24/2021).
The source said that the factory had been empty since Tuesday (21/12) with only a few cars including a police vehicle parked outside.
In addition, there were no workers at the location, only a postal guard and several other security officers were visible.
Unfortunately both Apple and Foxconn have not provided any statement regarding the incident.
It is known that this factory has produced iPhone 12 models in India, and also trial production for the iPhone 13 series is also underway at this time.
On the other hand, the disruption at Foxconn's factories also occurred as Apple faced supply chain shortages that had affected production for its various electronic devices. In October, Apple even stated that the supply chain would also deteriorate during the holiday season.
