Lei Jun confident to beat Apple

Along with the release of Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun had big ambitions. He is confident his company will surpass Apple, especially in sales in the high-end smartphone segment.

If you look at the entire market, according to several research bureaus, Xiaomi has sometimes overtaken Apple as the largest vendor in the world, behind Samsung. But that hasn't happened in the high end segment.

"Xiaomi 'officially' oversees Apple, learns from Apple, and then, will surpass Apple step by step in the future," he said at the launch of Xiaomi 12, as quoted by the Global Times.

Xiaomi has introduced several premium smartphone models before this Xiaomi 12. But it should be admitted that there is still a big gap in terms of popularity in the high-end sector when compared to the iPhone.

For example, in the cage of Xiaomi, China. In the Bamboo Curtain country, in the period from January to August this year, Apple's market share in the high-end segment reached 67%.

In October with the introduction of the iPhone 13, Apple's market share soared even more. Xiaomi is indeed considered to have to work hard if it wants to surpass Apple, especially in terms of brand perception.

Xiaomi 12 itself consists of two variants, the highest is the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Both use powerful processors from Qualcomm, namely Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro come in black, blue, purple with a glass back. In addition there is a layer of green vegan leather.

This Xiaomi 12 goes on sale in China starting December 31 and will probably be visiting other countries in the near future.
