Xiaomi has its own reasons for choosing a comparison with the iPhone 13. The reason is, for this latest flagship phone, Xiaomi has chosen a smaller screen size, down from 6.81 inches on the Mi 11 to 6.28 inches on the Xiaomi 12.

Regarding specifications, Xiaomi 12 will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was recently released by Qualcomm. Continuing the Snapdragon 888 used in Mi 11. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is produced by Samsung Foundry using the 4nm process.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 benchmark score, from existing leaks, has a significant increase compared to Snapdragon 888, but has not been able to beat the Apple A14 Bionic used in the iPhone 12. Based on existing leaks, the Xiaomi 12 series will consist of four different models namely the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, 12X and 12 Ultra. But it's possible that not all of them will launch later this month (for example the new Mi 11 Ultra was announced at the end of March 2021).
