Apple seems to be providing the A16 chip for certain iPhone 14 models only. The latest rumors say this new generation chip will only be used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This rumor came from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo via his tweet on Twitter. Kuo indicated that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will still use the A15 chipset which is currently used by all variants of the iPhone 13, as quoted from The Verge, Monday (14/3/2022).
If these rumors are true, then this is the first time in nearly a decade that Apple has used two different chips in a series to differentiate the standard and premium iPhone variants.
Apple last had this kind of division back in 2013, when they launched the iPhone 5S with the A7 chip while the cheaper iPhone 5C was fitted with the older A6 chip.
The company made by Steve Jobs also provides different chip configurations in the same iPhone line. For example, the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 Pro has more RAM and GPU cores than the A15 chip used in the iPhone 13
Only two Pro models would upgrade to the A16 processor, while the 14 & 14 Max will remain the A15. All four new models will likely come with 6GB RAM, with the difference being LPDDR 5 (14 Pro & 14 Pro Max) vs. LPDDR 4X (14 & 14 Max). https://t.co/tHcszIz6gX

Not only that, Kuo claims that all variants of the iPhone 14 will carry 6GB of RAM. The difference is, the Pro variant will use LPDDR5 memory and the standard variant uses LPDDR4X as used in the iPhone 13.
Kuo predicts that the iPhone 14 Max will carry a 6.7-inch screen. If this prediction is correct, then this marks the first time Apple has brought the screen that is usually used in the Pro variant to the non-Pro variant.
This means that the iPhone 14 line will only be available in two screen sizes, namely 6.1 inches for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7 inches for iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In addition to the rumors above, the iPhone 14 is also rumored to be the first iPhone that does not use a notch. Kuo predicts the iPhone 14 will carry a hole-punch camera with a Face ID sensor embedded under the screen.
Apple hasn't officially announced the iPhone 14 line yet, but like last year, it's likely that their latest flagship phone will launch in the fall.
