6 Reasons Sleeping After Sahur is Not Good for Health, Stop Starting Today!

After sahur, we often choose to continue sleeping because we are still very sleepy. Though we have to give time lag for the stomach to digest the food we consume.

Sleeping after suhoor is certainly something we should avoid because it can have a negative impact on the body. There are 6 reasons why sleeping after sahur is not good in terms of health. Anything, let's see!

1. GERD

Going to bed right after eating can cause GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Dede Nasrullah explained that GERD is a disease caused by stomach acid moving into the esophagus. GERD occurs because when you lie down, the valve between your stomach and esophagus doesn't close properly.

Symptoms of GERD include a burning feeling in the pit of the stomach, bitter mouth, chest pain, and nausea. So that you don't get GERD, Dede suggests waiting about 3 hours to sleep after sahur so that the food is completely digested by the stomach.

2. Fat Accumulation

If you are trying to diet during Ramadan, you should avoid going to bed after sahur. The accumulation of fat from the food you eat at dawn can occur because the calories that enter are more than those burned by the body, as a result your scale number can go up.

Especially if your family has a history of obesity, sleeping after sahur can make you more likely to experience weight spikes many times over. Later instead of getting a skinnier body, it gets wider.

3. Sore Throat

Have you ever felt your throat hurt when you woke up? This is because stomach acid rises to the throat. So, the hot sensation is not only in your chest, but also in your throat. If you continue to sleep after suhoor, inflammation can occur.

If you can't get rid of drowsiness, sleep in a sitting position so that stomach acid doesn't reach your throat. Don't lie down right away.

4. Constipation

When you decide to lie down after eating, the digestive process is disturbed. Food that takes 2 to 3 hours to digest becomes accumulated in the stomach because it cannot be digested normally.

This if allowed to continue can cause constipation or constipation. It is important that you do not eat foods that aggravate the work of the stomach, such as foods that are high in fat, caffeine, and high in sugar. Lots of vegetables and fruit.

5. Heart Attack

The habit of sleeping immediately after a big meal makes blood pressure increase which is certainly dangerous for the heart. If blood pressure does not go down it can cause cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks, strokes and coronary heart disease.

6. Stroke

Sleeping after suhoor can make it difficult for the digestive system to digest food. As a result, the stomach requires more blood supply to the stomach and the brain can be deprived of oxygen. If it continues for a long time, it can cause a stroke.

So, you already know that the dangers of sleeping after suhoor cannot be taken lightly. It's hard to hold back drowsiness, but it's even more difficult if you later get affected by this bad habit of yours.
