Android 13 is currently still in the developer preview phase and has not been officially launched yet. But leaks about Android 14 which will be released next year have emerged, revealing the internal name used by Google, namely 'Upside Down Cake'.
As is known, Google always provides a code for Android which is released every year using the name of the snack in alphabetical order. This code also used to be the official name of each Android version, such as Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 9.0 Pie.
Once entered the Q alphabet for Android 10, Google began to struggle to find the right snack name. Google ended up using the name Queen's Cake for Android 10, but the official Android name after that was just numbers.
However, internally Google still chose the name of the snack for the latest version of Android while it was still being developed. For example, Android 12 is known as Snow Cone, and Android 13 which was released this year carries the name Tiramisu.
Well, the internal name for Android 14 has been revealed even though it will only be released next year. In the new code uploaded to the Android Open Source Project, the internal name of Android 14 or Android U is Upside Down Cake, as quoted from 9to5Google, Sunday (24/4/2022).
Upside down cake itself is a cake whose topping is placed at the bottom of the pan and then the dough is poured on top. This cake dough is then baked, and then turned over so that the toppings are on top when served.
This is the first time Android 14's internal name has been revealed, indicating the operating system is currently in development. But when it was released it was likely that Google would still use the name Android 14, unless they made a branding change.
Having the name Android 14 revealed means it's time to predict snack names starting with the letter V for Android 15 in the next two years. In your opinion, what is the name of a suitable snack for Android 15?
